What personal information we collect

By "personal information", we mean information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you. It does not include anonymous or de-identified data. Depending on how you interact with the Services and where you live, we may collect or process the following categories:

  • Contact Information: name, address, billing address, shipping address, telephone number and email address.
  • Financial Information: payment card and account details, transaction details, payment method and payment confirmation. Full payment card details are processed by our payment service providers and are not stored by us.
  • Account Information: username, password, preferences and settings.
  • Transaction Information: items you view, add to your cart, add to your wishlist or purchase, return, exchange or cancel, and your previous transactions.
  • Communications: the information you include in your communications with us, for example when contacting customer service with a question.
  • Device Information: information about your device, browser or network connection, your IP address and other unique identifiers.
  • Usage Information: information about your interaction with and navigation through the Services.

Sources of personal information

We collect personal information:

  • Directly from you, for example when creating an account, placing an order, requesting a sample or contacting us;
  • Automatically through the Services, from your device and via cookies and similar technologies;
  • From our service providers, when they collect or process data on our behalf;
  • From our partners or other external parties.

How we use your personal data and the legal basis

We use your personal data for the purposes below. The legal basis under Article 6 of the GDPR is stated for each purpose.

  • Providing the Services and fulfilling your order (creating and managing an account, processing payment, processing and shipping your order, returns and exchanges, customer service). Legal basis: performance of the contract.
  • Improving and personalizing the Services (remembering preferences, making recommendations and improving the online store). Legal basis: legitimate interest and, where required, your consent.
  • Marketing and advertising (emails, messages and personalized advertising). Legal basis: your consent, or our legitimate interest in informing existing customers about similar products, with an opt-out option in every message.
  • Security and fraud prevention (verifying accounts, ensuring secure payments, detecting and preventing fraudulent or unsafe activities). Legal basis: legitimate interest and legal obligation.
  • Communicating with you (customer service and maintaining our relationship). Legal basis: performance of the contract and legitimate interest.
  • Legal reasons (complying with the law, responding to valid legal requests, enforcing our terms). Legal basis: legal obligation and legitimate interest.

If you create login credentials, you are responsible for keeping them secure. Do not share your username and password with anyone.

Sample requests

When you request a sample through our website, we process your name, address details, telephone number and email address. We use this data to assess your request, send the sample and contact you about your request, including by telephone. Legal basis: your consent, which you give when submitting the request, and our legitimate interest in processing your request. You can withdraw your consent at any time via info@monsor.com. We do not retain this data for longer than necessary to process your request and maintain any follow-up contact.

How we share personal data

We may share your personal data with:

  • Shopify and other service providers that perform tasks on our behalf, such as IT management, payment processing, data analysis, customer service, cloud storage, fulfilment and shipping;
  • Business and marketing partners, to enable marketing and advertising. For example, we use Shopify and advertising platforms to show personalized advertising based on your activities across different merchants and websites. Depending on where you live, you may opt out of this;
  • Third parties at your request or with your consent, for example for shipping or when using social media widgets or login integrations;
  • Our affiliates within our corporate group;
  • In connection with a business transaction (such as a merger or bankruptcy), to comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, and protect our or others' rights.

We do not sell your personal data in the usual sense of the word. To the extent that displaying personalized advertisements is considered "selling" or "sharing" under certain laws, you can opt out as described below.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the webshop, remember your preferences, analyze usage, and show relevant advertisements. A cookie is a small file placed on your device.

We distinguish the following categories:

  • Necessary cookies. Required for the webshop to function, for example for the shopping cart, checkout, security, and language or currency selection. No consent is required for these.
  • Functional cookies. Remember your preferences and settings to provide you with a smoother experience.
  • Analytical cookies. Give us insight into how visitors use the webshop so that we can improve it.
  • Marketing and advertising cookies. Used to show you personalized advertisements on our websites and other websites.

If you visit our website with the Global Privacy Control (GPC) opt-out signal enabled, we will, depending on where you live, automatically treat this as a request to opt out of sharing data for targeted advertising with the browser and device you are using. More information: https://globalprivacycontrol.org/. Apart from GPC, we do not recognize any other "Do Not Track" signals.

Third-party services and cookies we use

To operate, analyze, and market the online store, we use third-party services. These parties may place cookies or similar technologies and process personal data in doing so, each in accordance with their own privacy policy. The analytics and marketing services are only loaded after you have given consent via our cookie banner.

  • Shopify (necessary and functional): our online store and payment platform, required for, among other things, the shopping cart, checkout, and security.
  • Klaviyo (functional and marketing): our email and marketing platform, linked to Shopify. We use it to send order confirmations and newsletters and to make our communications more relevant.
  • Google Analytics (analytics): gives us insight into how visitors use the online store so that we can improve it.
  • Google Tag Manager (functional): manages the loading of the scripts and tags mentioned above on the website.
  • Meta Pixel (marketing): measures the results of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram and helps us show relevant ads. To ensure reliable and careful data transfers, we use server-side tracking via WeTracked.
  • TikTok Pixel (marketing): measures the results of our advertising on TikTok and helps us show relevant ads.

Some of these services may process personal data outside the European Economic Area. In that case, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. See also the International Transfers section below.

Relationship with Shopify

The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal data about your access to and use of the Services to provide and improve the Services. Information you submit may be sent to and shared with Shopify and third parties that may be located in countries other than where you live. In addition, we use certain enhanced Shopify features that contain data from your interactions with our store, other merchants, and Shopify. Third-party websites and links

The Services may contain links to websites or platforms operated by third parties. If you follow a link to a site that we do not operate, review its privacy and security policies. We are not responsible for the privacy or security of those sites or the accuracy of their information. Information you share in public or semi-public places, including third-party social media, may be viewed by others.

Children's data

The Services are not intended for use by children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age at which valid consent can be given in your jurisdiction (16 years in the Netherlands). If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has provided us with personal data, please contact us using the details below, and we will delete it. We are not aware that we "share" or "sell" the personal data of individuals under 16.

Security and retention periods

No security measure is completely foolproof, and we cannot guarantee perfect security. Therefore, do not send sensitive or confidential data through insecure channels.

We do not retain your personal data longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as long as legally required. For guidance:

  • We retain order and transaction data for as long as necessary to perform the agreement and thereafter for the statutory tax retention period, which is seven years in the Netherlands.
  • We retain account data for as long as your account is active, and thereafter as necessary or legally required.
  • We retain marketing data until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent.
  • We retain customer service communications for as long as necessary to handle your question and any follow-up questions.
  • We retain sample requests for as long as necessary to assess and ship your request and maintain any follow-up communications.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the rights below. These rights are not absolute and may be limited in certain cases as permitted by law.

  • Right of access: you can request which personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure: you can request that your personal data be deleted.
  • Right to rectification: you can request that inaccurate data be corrected.
  • Right to data portability: you can receive a copy of your data and request that it be transferred, in certain circumstances.
  • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of data for targeted advertising: you may opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your data for targeted advertising.
  • Communication preferences: you can unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails. We may still send you non-promotional messages afterward, such as those about your account or orders.

If you live in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you also have:

  • Right to object and restrict processing: you may ask us to stop or restrict certain processing activities.
  • Right to withdraw consent: where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

You may exercise these rights through the Services where indicated, or by contacting us using the details below. We will not discriminate against you when you exercise a right. We may verify your identity before processing your request, in a manner proportionate to the request. We will respond within one month of receiving your request. If a request is complex or involves multiple requests, this period may be extended by two months; in that case, we will inform you within one month.

If you have a complaint about how we process your personal data, please contact us first using the details below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Dutch Data Protection Authority (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl). Residents of other EEA countries can contact their national supervisory authority; residents of the United Kingdom can contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

International transfers

We may transfer, store, and process your personal data outside the country where you live. For transfers outside the EEA or the United Kingdom, we rely on recognized safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent provisions of the competent authority of the United Kingdom, unless the data is transferred to a country with an adequate level of protection.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised version on this website and update the "Last updated" date.
